Positions for Postdoc/Master's students in MOBILE MIXED REALITY

Helsinki Institute for Information Technology HIIT is looking for postdocs or Master's students in mobile mixed reality. HIIT is developing mobile platforms for advanced visual navigation and browsing tools, incorporating augmented reality and 3D maps.

Multiple positions are open for: 

  1. C/C++ programmers for mobile mixed reality applications
  2. Cognitive scientists or usability researchers/students
  3. Signal analysts for spatial sensing

1.  Suitable background experience includes computer graphics, computer vision, Linux and Android. Interest in human-computer interactions, augmented reality and virtual environments is a plus. Participation in demo scene or similar activity is highly appreciated.

2. Work would involve field and laboratory experiments. Suitable background includes human-computer interaction    design, cognitive sciences and experience from usability studies.

3. Work would involve GPS+inertia sensors/accelometers/magnetometers, programming functionalities, filtering and analyzing data. Suitable background in signal processing, pattern recognition, Matlab.

The work is carried partially within Academy of Finland funded projects 3DWIKI and Ganzheit, but is also supported by EIT ICT Labs Smart Spaces and Digital Cities programs, involving collaboration between European partners in Berlin and Saarbrucken.

The work would primarily be conducted in HIIT (http://www.hiit.fi) with possible division of work with DFKI Saarbrucken/Berlin and Max Planck Institute Saarbrucken.
