The Academy of Finland awarded funding for the project Urban Space and Experience Design (USED) - participatory methods for new media art & research. The project is an art-research interaction project which converges methods and approaches of new media art, interface design and urban studies. The aim is to develop a practice informed by an understanding of the experiential and social qualities of public spaces as they are being reconfigured by wireless and pervasive technologies. The project is led by Professor Mauri Kaipainen from the University of Industrial Arts Helsinki.
