We are looking for excellent candidates to a new project "Machine
Learning for Augmented Science and Knowledge Work."  The project
is part of Finland Distinguished Professor Programme (FiDiPro), a
grant to create highly competitive research groups, lead by
internationally merited researchers with top scientists in Finland,
both sharing a similar scientific discipline. This FiDiPro project
welcomes Professor Hiroshi Mamitsuka of Kyoto University, Japan, as
FiDiPro professor, being hosted by Professor Samuel Kaski of Aalto
University, Finland. The objective of the four-year project is to
develop new, innovative machine learning techniques for
high-dimensional and/or relational data. We have excellent application
opportunities in particular in personalized medicine, crop-breeding
and information seeking. The position is initially for two years, with
an option for renewal. Find more on Professor Hiroshi Mamitsuka:
http://www.bic.kyoto-u.ac.jp/pathway/mami/index.html and Professor
Samuel Kaski: http://users.ics.aalto.fi/sami/. Also more detail on
FiDiPro and this project itself can be found in

field in computer science, machine learning, data mining,
statistics, algorithmics, combinatorics, optimization and/or database
engineering. The applicant should be enthusiastic and energetic in
doing new research in machine learning for augmented science and
knowledge work and have sufficient programming skills.

fields of computer science. Helsinki is regularly highly graded in
world city rankings, such as global liveability ranking by The
Economist (Ranked eighth in 2014). As a postdoctoral fellow you will
enjoy sophisticated, high-quality and vibrant life of Nordic charm. At
the same time, you will have opportunities to experience the rich
